Social Networking App Performance in Q4 2020 in France

The final quarter of 2020 saw varying performances among the top social networking applications in France. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the download figures and user activity across these platforms.

WhatsApp Messenger experienced a steady increase in downloads, starting at 179K in the last week of September and peaking at 239K in the week of December 21. Weekly active users also showed growth, rising from 31M to over 32M by the end of December.

Meta Platforms' Messenger reported fluctuations in downloads, with a notable spike to 194K in the third week of December. Its revenue trended upwards, ending the quarter at 683K USD, and weekly active users saw a slight increase from 33.6M to 33.4M.

Facebook, also from Meta Platforms, had a mixed quarter with downloads ranging from 106K to 161K. Revenue for the app showed an upward trend, finishing at 24K USD in the final week of December. Active users slightly increased from 29.4M to 29.6M.

Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout saw a rise in revenue from 15K to 44K USD, with a peak in the penultimate week of December. The app's downloads peaked in early November at 140K, while weekly active users had a high of 4.9M in mid-November before decreasing to 4.4M by year-end.

Lastly, Telegram Messenger, despite having no reported revenue, observed a consistent number of downloads throughout the quarter, with a high of 84K in the first week of November. Active users showed an overall increase, concluding at 1.8M in the last week of December.
